THE FIRST RESIDENTS OF AZERBAIJAN

 THE FIRST RESIDENTS OF AZERBAIJAN

One of the main tasks of archeology is to study the history of the emergence, development and formation of the first primitive people. Archeology is the study of the distant past of mankind through the remains of material culture.

During the archeological researches in the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan, rich material culture samples related to the settlement of the first inhabitants were discovered and as a result, the territory of our republic was included in the list of human settlements. The oldest archeological and paleontological materials have been found in the territory of Azerbaijan, which show that the first primitive people began to live 1.7-1.8 million years ago.

As a result of complex research conducted in the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan over the past 50 years, rich scientific materials and samples of material culture have been discovered to study the history of the emergence, formation and development of ancient man. On the basis of the found scientific materials, the history of the distant past of Azerbaijan, the early stages of human development and the features of the material cultural remains of the great inhabitants are studied and researched.

In recent years, as a result of scientific research conducted by Azerbaijani scientists together with European scientists, it has been proved that primitive people began to live in the territory of Azerbaijan 2 million years ago. However, until the early 1950s, it was shown that there were no ancient human camps in the territory of our republic and that primitive people did not live here. However, archeological research conducted by Azerbaijani scientists in recent years has shown that this idea is wrong and unfounded, as evidenced by scientific materials that the territory of our republic is one of the areas where ancient man was born and formed. At the same time, it was determined that the territory of Azerbaijan has its own peculiarities of civilization.

As a result of complex research conducted in the territory of Karabakh in Azerbaijan, rich camps belonging to the Paleolithic period were registered and scientific research was carried out.

During the complex scientific researches, it was determined that it took millennia for the development of tools of the oldest inhabitants of Azerbaijan and their further development. Studies show that during the Paleolithic period, primitive humans settled mainly in natural karst caves, river banks, rock shelters, and other habitable places.

As a result of research conducted in the territory of the Republic in the Paleolithic period, rich archeological camps belonging to different stages of the Stone Age were identified in the territory of Karabakh. In the summer of 1960, during the archeological excavations carried out in the Guruchay and Kondalanchay valleys of Karabakh by the Paleolithic archeological expedition of the Institute of History of the Azerbaijan Academy of Sciences under the leadership of MMHuseynov, Azykh and Taglar cave camps were recorded.

During the scientific research, it was found out that there are karst caves in the mountainous area of Karabakh. However, archeological finds with the richest material culture samples in this region have been recorded in Azykh and Taglar caves.

The Azykh multi-layered Paleolithic camp is located in the most picturesque corner of Karabakh, on the left bank of the Guruchay, at an altitude of 900 meters above sea level, 16 kilometers from the city of Fizuli, in the Tug depression.

As a result of scientific research conducted in the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan, not only primitive people lived in the territory of our republic, but also the formation of the oldest inhabitants in this land for a long time and scientifically proved that the territory of Azerbaijan is one of the ancient civilizations. In this regard, the complex scientific research conducted in the territory of Karabakh is of great scientific importance.

Rich archeological materials on material culture samples of Olduvay, Ashel, Mustye, Orinyak, Solyutre, Madeleine, Azil, Mesolithic, Neolithic, Kur-Araz and Painted pottery found in Araz, Guruchay, Arpachay, Tartarchay, Vilashchay, Zuvandchay and other valleys of Azerbaijan .

Based on the remains of material culture found in the ancient human camps found in the territory of our republic, it tells about the cave life of primitive people, preparation of tools, hunting, acquaintance with the first fire, primitive buildings, rock paintings and ancient history of Karabakh. At the same time, it explains the stages of formation of the world's oldest human settlements and the first inhabitants of these territories and camps, as well as our most ancient history on the basis of material sources.

As a result of complex scientific research conducted in the camps of the first inhabitants of Azerbaijan, not only primitive people lived in the territory of our republic, but also the formation of the oldest people in this land for a long time was proved by scientific facts
